Four Under 40 Award Recipient: Meet Max Walter
Celebrating The Next Wave of Leaders in the Brainerd Lakes Area
Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce
Meet Max Walter, one of the recipients of the 2025 Four Under 40 Awards. These awards are hosted by the WAVE Young Professionals Network (a program by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce) and recognize four outstanding leaders between the ages of 18 and 39 who live and work in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
An anonymous panel of judges reviewed and scored the submissions based on the following criteria: professional excellence, leadership, community involvement, and potential for future success. Max Walter rose to the top and was selected by the judging panel as one of the honored award winners.
Four Under 40: Max Walter
Member Services & Government Affairs Manager | CTC
In any room he walks into, Max Walter may not be the loudest voice—but he’s the teammate that people look to when it’s time to get things done with care, intention, and clarity.
As the Member Services & Government Affairs Manager at CTC, Max has grown into a role that connects people, policies, and purpose. His responsibilities bridge the gap between customer needs, community values, and the evolving world of broadband and telecommunications. Through this work, he’s become a key voice in both internal operations and external advocacy, building trusted relationships across industries and government alike.
But what truly sets Max apart is not just his professional role—it’s how he shows up every single day. With quiet consistency and a steady presence, Max brings thoughtfulness to every task he takes on, and has a deep understanding that leadership is just as much about listening as it is about leading.
His belief in meaningful community connection has extended far beyond the workplace. Max serves on the Anchor Board for the WAVE Young Professionals Network and is an engaged participant in the Government Affairs Committee. He also lends his voice to statewide conversations as a member of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee. His work behind the scenes helps ensure rural Minnesota has a voice at the table.
Max also volunteers his time and talents in the Brainerd Lakes Area. He spends his free time with local organizations like Smiles for Jake, the Crisis Line, and Northern Lakes Rescue.
Receiving the Four Under 40 award is an honor Max doesn’t take lightly. “It’s an incredible honor—and honestly, a little surreal,” he said. “I’m grateful for the recognition, but even more so for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated people at CTC and in the Brainerd Lakes community. This award isn’t just about one person. It reflects the mentors, peers, and teammates who’ve supported and helped me grow.”
Max leads not for recognition but because he genuinely cares. His actions speak louder than any title or accolade, and his influence is felt in the way people work together, feel seen, and stay connected.
In a time when leadership is often equated with visibility, Max offers something different: quiet strength, thoughtful presence, and a deep commitment to making a difference in his community.
"Don’t wait for permission to lead. Just start showing up for others and doing what feels right. You don’t have to be the loudest voice in the room. Growth happens when you have a learning mindset, stay kind, and keep moving forward—even if it’s one small step at a time.”
