Matt Kilian, president of the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce, recently graduated from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM), a leadership program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Over the past four years, Kilian attended sessions at the University of Arizona, one of four university sites hosting the national program.

“It was an honor to have this opportunity to sharpen my skills and learn alongside other leaders from across the country, many of whom have become close friends,” Kilian said. “We’re always looking to get better. I left Arizona with a lot of inspiration on how to strengthen our chamber and business community.”

The Institute provides advanced training in key areas of chamber and association management, including leadership, operations, and member engagement.

Nearly 1,000 professionals from chambers of commerce, associations, and similar organizations attend annually to enhance their skills, develop new strategies and build a network of peers from across the country.

“We are so grateful for the leadership Matt brings to our businesses,” said Lori Kohorst, Brainerd Lakes Chamber board chair and owner of Party Time Rental. “Our community will continue to benefit from his expertise, welcoming manner, and dedication to the entire BLA.”

Since 1921, the Institute for Organization Management has equipped thousands of chamber and association leaders to create stronger organizations and better serve their members. Kilian’s graduation highlights his commitment to advancing the mission of the Brainerd Lakes Chamber and supporting businesses in the region.
