As First Vice Commander of the Pequot Lakes American Legion and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), she is committed to supporting those who have served while helping ensure veteran organizations remain strong for future generations. She understands firsthand the importance of those communities and works to engage younger veterans, foster meaningful connections across generations, and preserve the support systems that have served so many.

As a member of the Relationship Safety Alliance Board of Directors, Shawna serves on both the Finance and Events Committees, helping provide leadership and oversight for an organization that supports survivors of domestic violence and child abuse throughout Central Minnesota. Her thoughtful approach and collaborative leadership have already earned the confidence of her fellow board members, who have nominated her to serve as Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee beginning in 2027.

Shawna’s investment in the Brainerd Lakes Area continues through her involvement with the Brainerd Noon Sertoma Club, the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce, the Pine River Chamber of Commerce, and the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Across each organization, she contributes not only her time, but her perspective, leadership, and willingness to help move meaningful work forward.
