Summer events in Pequot Lakes uphold tradition in 2020
Even though 2020 has brought us COVID-19 with all its challenges, we’ve found a way to keep some of our longstanding traditions with Stars & Stripes and Bean Hole Days while also adhering to Minnesota’s Stay Safe Plan.
The decisions we had to make weren’t easy. They were based on the continued uncertainty, the state’s phased reopening guidelines, and the time lost to plan two events back-to-back. We care about the well-being of our business community, residents, and visitors. We made the decisions with the best intentions for all. We want to bring economic opportunities for our businesses and community while being respectful of our visitors from a safety perspective based on the guidance we have so far.
STARS & STRIPES DAYS
Friday, July 3rd & Saturday, July 4th, 2020
The Chamber believes in our veterans and our independence and we want to celebrate in every way possible. We will celebrate with a firework show on July 3rd where spectators can enjoy fire in the sky from their vehicles. Due to the state’s rules regarding gatherings and crowds, we will no longer have our Stars & Stripes Days parade on the 4th, but we will start our day with our craft fair complete with various artisan’s vendor booths placed with ample spacing. We will be supporting our local businesses as visitors don their most festive patriotic attire while enjoying downtown Pequot Lakes. The City of Pequot Lakes is hosting Bands in the Park in Trailside Park with Rockin’ Bakken, a Sinatra tribute band from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
BEAN HOLE DAYS
Tuesday, July 14th & Wednesday, July 15th, 2020
Bean Hole Days will also look a bit different where reservations must be made to secure a timeslot to enjoy your delicious FREE beans, dollar bun and water. Our lines are shorter but our beans just as delicious – 6 feet apart brings a whole new meaning to social distancing when it comes to eating beans! Again, we are Lakes Proud and we care about our community and our visitors to Lake Country, and want to provide a fun and safe experience for all. For those who don’t want to attend the event, there will be to-go packages of beans and Bean Hole Day souvenirs available while supplies last. The Chamber is offering a quart of beans for $10. For $20, people can get a mug and a quart of beans. A quart of beans, mug, and a t-shirt is $35. There will be no tent, tables, chairs or entertainment in the park as the Chamber tries to eliminate those elements that create crowds. Look for more information on the Pequot Lakes Chamber Facebook page on signing up for a time-slot.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate the new ways of doing things, and we look forward to seeing you in Pequot Lakes!
