Minnesota Ready Coalition: No Action Yet from Governor Walz
Thank you for supporting our effort to fully, safely reopen Minnesota businesses by Friday, June 19th. In response, the Governor’s office had three conversations with the Minnesota Ready Coalition of 70 chambers and associations but took no action. He remains concerned that the public is not complying with safety practices, citing photos of packed businesses in Dinkytown and other areas.
According to a recent U.S. Chamber survey, 43 percent of small businesses say they have less than six months to remain in business. One in ten say they have one month before going out of business.
As our Chamber continues to push for reopening, we urge businesses to reinforce the message that we can be trusted with the safety of our employees, customers and communities. Otherwise, restrictions will likely continue, especially as COVID cases rise in other states.
