Mills Auto among those making creative use of gift cards
By now, everyone knows that buying gift cards is one of the best ways that the community can support local restaurants that were suddenly forced to close last week.
We need to give a Lakes Proud (and loud) shout-out to our friends at Mills Automotive for their quick, community-minded thinking to make restaurant gift cards the center of a car-buying promotion. March car-buyers will receive a $50 gift card for the restaurant or brewery of their choice. (See image below.)
Sure, a $50 gift card may not be the main reason why someone pulls the trigger on a new or pre-owned Ford. Lincoln, Buick, Honda or GMC, but it demonstrates the spirit of community support that is at the heart of Lakes Proud-ness. And the Mills team visited 18 area restaurants to buy dozens of gift cards for the promotion. That’s impressive.
So how about you? Is there an upcoming birthday, holiday or special occasion that necessitates gift-giving? If your business or organization is surviving or thriving in this crisis, could you work restaurant gift cards into your own creative promotion? Or maybe buy a stack of them for customers or employees as an unexpected recognition gift?
And remember, in these days of social distancing, gift cards and paper certificates are easily mailed in a one-stamp envelope. The possibilities are endless.
As we mentioned in a previous post, buying gift cards is like providing restaurant owners a no-interest loan that helps get them through an unimaginably difficult time. The best part? You get to enjoy the investment on sooooo many levels.
