Wait…don’t cancel your summer travel plans
With the spring sunshine, longer daylight, and quarantine, you’re probably getting cabin fever more than ever before. This is the time of year that many of us start dreaming of the beloved Minnesota summer. You might already have travel plans booked at your favorite resort or are looking to start planning your summer vacation. We are just as eager as you are to have you vacation here when the time is right.
Our local lodging properties are getting inquiries about upcoming reservations and visitors still hoping to have a summer vacation in the Lakes Area. A lot can happen over the next few months, leaving many to take the wait-and-see approach with your upcoming travel plans.
If it becomes necessary, we encourage you to consider postponing instead of canceling your vacations. Tourism is an essential part of our local economy. Lodging properties, especially small resorts, use deposits to help off-set costs and get through their off-season. If you’re concerned, talk with the lodging property you’re staying at or are considering for an upcoming trip. Several of our lodging properties are offering increased flexibility around reservations, like carrying over the reservation to a different season or to next year.
While the situation isn’t ideal, we remain optimistic. We have abundant outdoor activities and wide open spaces, which will be some of the first things ready and waiting for you to enjoy. We will get through this together!
